Master of Engineering Science
The postgraduate research degree programmes at UTAR are dedicated to prepare candidates with intellectual background and research skills so that their research discoveries and insights are valuable for the advancement of knowledge and development of new ideas, theories and insights in the respective areas of study. It is academically demanding and requires strong level of commitment and perseverance from the candidates to complete individual research.
UTAR offers strong research culture, expertise and infrastructure in numerous research areas. Its research areas offer postgraduate candidates opportunities to acquire cutting-edge technologies as well as to prepare them for careers at the forefront of R&D.
The programmes entail a specific programme of research under appropriate supervision. Candidates are also required to apply and evaluate methodologies and techniques in carrying out the research. The research work produced in the form of a dissertation must display original and critical thoughts, and significant values to the current state of knowledge, and contribute to address problems and issues.
Candidates are required to complete relevant compulsory modules such as Research Methods and Directed Readings. Candidates are encouraged to participate in enhancement courses such as Thesis Writing Workshops or Lecture Series.

PEO 1: To produce graduates who can synthesize technical knowledge to identify, formulate and solve problems of professional importance and interest.
