The Built Environment Society Club's recent bonding trip to Pangkor Island
The Built Environment Society Club's recent
bonding trip to Pangkor Island served as an opportunity for the club to come
together in a relaxed and enjoyable setting outside of the workplace. The
purpose of the trip was to strengthen bonds among team members and foster
communication. The trip was organized on 2/3/2024 till 3/3/2024 and was
attended by 32 participants, including lecturers Dr. Kwan Wai Hoe and Dr. Tan
Zi Yi.
On the first day of the event, the group began their Pangkor Island journey with an early morning departure from their designated meeting point, with bags packed and spirits high. After arriving at Pangkor Island, they were greeted by the Island's warm and welcoming atmosphere. Their first destination was island-hopping. The adventure began with excitement as they boarded a boat to explore Pangkor's hidden treasures. First, they observed the beauty of Pulau Giam, known for its beautiful beaches and colorful marine life. Snorkeling in the clear waters, they marveled at the coral reefs and playful fish. Next, they stopped at Pulau Mentagor, a tranquil island with soft sands and swaying palm trees. The group enjoyed the scent of saltwater and the sound of waves lapping against the shore. Finally, they visited the stone view by boat, where the ancient rock formations provided a stunning backdrop for photos and contemplation. Later in the evening, after dinner, back at their homestay, the group gathered for a night of fun mini games prepared by the committees. Throughout these mini games, members got to know each other more, despite being from different trimesters. The night was filled with laughter, excitement, and positive energy among participants.
On the second day, the group embarked on a sightseeing tour of Pangkor Island, exploring the rich heritage and landmarks. Right after brunch, their first stop was the Fu Lin Kong temple, a revered site of worship and cultural significance. The temple is known for its intricate and colorful architectural details, reflecting traditional Chinese temple design. The group enjoyed the uniqueness of the temple and learned a lot about Chinese tradition, as the temple is dedicated to the deity Guan Yin, also known as the goddess of Mercy, who is revered in Chinese Buddhism. Next, they visited the Masjid Al-Bahr, also known as the floating Mosque. The mosque is famous for its unique architectural design, with its white-domed roof and graceful minarets reflecting against the tranquil waters of the sea. As they approached the mosque, its stunning architecture and serene location immediately captivated their attention. The visit to Masjid Al-Bahr was a memorable and enriching experience, allowing the group to appreciate the cultural and religious significance of this remarkable landmark on Pangkor Island. Furthermore, they also visited the Dutch Fort to explore the historic site, which allowed them to immerse themselves in the island's rich colonial heritage. They were fascinated by its thick stone walls, cannons, and old buildings. It was a memorable experience, allowing them to connect with history and gain a deeper understanding of Pangkor Island's cultural heritage. Finally, they paid a visit to the duty-free shop as their last destination. The shop was arranged with an array of goods ranging from souvenirs to local delicacies. However, it was chocolates that caught their attention the most, and they bought a lot as souvenirs for friends and family members. The committees thoughtfully decided to gift chocolates to each member of the bonding trip as a token of appreciation for their participation, which served as a sweet reminder of their time together on this bonding trip.
In conclusion, this bonding trip to Pangkor Island was a resounding success and filled the members with unforgettable experiences and cherished memories. Throughout the journey, the group had the opportunity to explore the island's natural beauty and strengthen the bonds of friendship among themselves. This bonding trip served as a reminder of the importance of coming together and fostering meaningful connections, and they look forward to many more adventures together in the future.
