Archidex is an annual exhibition of architectural, engineering, construction and interior furnishing products in conjunction with the Kuala Lumpur Architectural Festival ,KLAF2024 . This year, Construction Management Year 1 students took the initiative to organize their own trip down to visit the exhibition on the 6th July 2024 with their lecturer Ar. Tan Seong Yeow who was attending the DATUM conference.
One of the benefits of visiting the exhibition booth was the exposure to various material and technology products. Some booths exhibitors were very glad to receive UTAR students and gave detailed explanations and demonstrations of their products. Students felt that the exposure was very beneficial in broadening their understanding. The booth from Chinese construction companies were some of the most attractive especially the scaled urban model which thoroughly impressed the students. As for the lecturer, it is encouraging and heartwarming to see the students’ spark of interest in the industry and contacts were explored for future online product demonstration by various suppliers. However, as it was a day visit, the students could only cover part of the exhibitions and many are interested to attend next year’s exhibition again.
