FEGT Medalists Shine at iMTC 9.0

A triumphant participation for the teams of the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology at the International Materials Technology Challenge (iMTC) 9.0 on 10 December 2024 at Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Materials Technology Challenge was held annually for young researchers, scientists and inventors to present their ideas and inventions on materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering and technology field that are beneficial for the participants.

This year, the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) proudly fielded two teams to compete in this prestigious challenge.

Mr. Tan Cheng Yong's team achieved a remarkable gold medal with their innovative project titled “Integration of Image Processing Algorithm and Deep Learning Approaches to Monitor Ginger Plant.” Meanwhile, Mr. Tan Hong Zheng's team earned an impressive silver medal for their project titled “Smart Parking System with Real-time Parking Lot Status Monitoring Using Internet of Things (IoT) and Radio-frequency Identification (RFID).”

Their dedication and innovative projects led to remarkable achievements: the teams collectively secured a gold medal and a silver medal, along with certificates of recognition for their outstanding contributions.
