The Department of Petrochemical Engineering (PE) and the Centre of Engineering and Green Technology (CEGT) organized a site visit to the Top Glove Factory in Klang on August 6, 2024. Five students and a lecturer participated in this trip.
The visit began with a visit to the facilities at Top Glove Tower. Then, we have safety briefing and tour of the Research and Development lab at the TG Factory 25. The Engineer provided an introduction to the TG Company's profile and explained the role of the TG R&D Centre to the participants. This was followed by a lab tour where further explanations were given about the analyses conducted in the lab.
Subsequently, the participants were led to the production teams, and the engineers guided them on a tour of a production line. Prior to the tour, an explanation was given regarding the various processes involved in the production line. Participants were captivated by the operations of the production line.
Moving forward, the participants visited Factory 3WT to observe the water treatment plant. The visit commenced with an introduction to the water treatment process implemented in the factory. The drainage water was reclaimed as a water source for the TG plant through a series of treatment processes, including sedimentation, rotary drum screening, anoxic and oxic processes, membrane bio reactor treatment, cartridge filtration, and reverse osmosis. The participants were provided with a comprehensive tour of the entire water treatment plant.
In conclusion, this trip proved to be highly informative, and all participants greatly benefitted from the experience.
