A webinar entitled “Discovering the NANO-world” has been conducted on 26th November 2021 via Microsoft Teams. The duration of the webinar is 2 hours. The major objective of this webinar is to introduce the concept and latest research/application of nanotechnology to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The first speaker of this webinar is Ts. Dr. Yeap Swee Pin from Department of Chemical & Petroleum Engineering of UCSI University, who has introduced the knowledge about nanotechnology and shared its application in engineering fields as well as its toxicity concern. The second speaker is Dr. Leong Sim Siong from Petrochemical Engineering Department of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), who has illustrated the underlying physics of magnetophoresis of magnetic nanoparticles, particularly to provide a simple picture/idea on how the nanoscale interaction affects the behaviour of macroscopic process. Last but not least, the third speaker is Mr Tham Foo Kean, a process engineer Infineon Technologies (Kulim) Sdn. Bhd., who has shared the pathway of an ordinary pure science student in learning the general knowledge of nanoparticles. In addition, Mr. Tham also provided some insight on the challenges of nanomaterials and future potential trends of the nanotechnology, from the origin of nanoparticles.

There are a total of 42 audiences attended to this webinar, including UTAR students and staffs as well as public community.
