A total four students from Petrochemical Engineering participated in the competition
“Pertandingan Enviro Challenge Jas Perak” which organised by the Jabatan Alam
Sekitar Negeri Perak on 31 July 2022 from 7.30am to 2pm. They are Goy Chien Kai.
Ee Yu Feng, Ng Jia Hann, and Kee Yee Hang and formed a team. In this
competition, it was like a station game where there are 5 checkpoints (namely,
Dataran Ipoh, Gunung Lang, Terminal Amanjaya, Pasar karat Ipoh and Taman Dr
Seeanagam) in the Ipoh area. The team who accumulated the highest mark will be
awarded in this competition with the grand prize of RM800 and trophies. Participants
are only allowed to head off to each checkpoint by public transport and it can be bus
transit, grab, taxi, etc. Four of us (no one can be left behind, if so, then we must wait
till all the members arrive at the destination) must register at each station counter
and win the game to obtain the bonus time or penalty if unable to finish the game.
There are a lot of specific missions to be completed to acquire bonus time. During
the game, we went through the water quality test such as the TSS test and turbidity
test, searched for specific flora and fauna in Zoo Ipoh, collected wastes (tins, papers,
and plastic bottles), guessing based on the hints provided (pembayang), shouting
game (to achieve the highest hertz frequency and playing large-scale puzzle).
Students have feedback that this is a memorable experience, where they have free
chance to travel around in Ipoh and met new friends from other universities. They
won sixth place and RM100 with hamper and completion certificate.
