Sg. Kinta River Education Programme (Petrochemical Engineering Community Service)

This programme is led by Dr. Toh Pey Yi from Petrochemical Engineering Department which is providing services to our community. The programme is playing a major role in monitoring the water quality of three rivers connected with Sg. Kinta. Various tests have been conducted in monitoring the water quality such as dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, turbidity, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD) and etc. Besides, plenty of activities have been organized such as (i) opening house was organized to introduce this programme to students, (ii) one-day gotong-royong at Taman DR Seevinasagam at Ipoh, workshop to train UTAR students and students from other institution to be River Ranger (volunteers who possess the skills to contribute to the River Programme).
