The department was delighted to host representatives from the Hertfort Group of Companies, who generously shared their invaluable expertise and knowledge with us.

 

Mr. Vincent Chong, the esteemed Executive Director of Hertfort Systems Sdn. Bhd., brings a wealth of experience spanning 18 years in the realm of infrastructure solutions and services. He is a leader in Malaysia's software solutions landscape, with a strong track record of involvement in projects encompassing substation and electrical design, power generation, clean water treatment processes, and various other infrastructure-related endeavors, all employing cutting-edge BIM tools and striving for the realization of the Digital Twin concept.



During his presentation, Mr. Vincent delved into the interesting topic of "Digital Twin Technology and its Applications." He elucidated how digital twin modeling has become an indispensable tool in the industry, particularly for simulation and training purposes. Notably, companies employ digital twins as a means to prepare their workforce, especially for high-risk tasks, ensuring a high level of competency before execution. Mr. Vincent also gave examples of some of the digital twin projects undertaken by his company.

 

Mr. J.Y. Mak, the visionary founder of Hertfort Group of Companies and Teach All Portal Sdn. Bhd. (Oasis), has accumulated an impressive 25-year career in the Factory Automation and Process Control industry. His expertise encompasses a wide range of best practices, including Industrial Automation, Robotic Handling Systems, Instrumentation, Process Control, and Data Acquisition. His substantial involvement in projects spans various sectors, including general manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, palm oil production, cement manufacturing, power generation, and clean water treatment processes.



Mr. Mak delivered an engaging talk entitled "Strategies for Succeeding in Your First Job." During this enlightening session, he shared his comprehensive list of ten attributes that new graduates should steer clear of:

  1. Job hopping
  2. Refusing training and learning opportunities
  3. Being overly calculative
  4. Engaging in office politics
  5. Exhibiting poor communication skills
  6. Frequent absenteeism
  7. Overreliance on parental support
  8. Excessive self-esteem
  9. Neglecting teamwork
  10. Failing to take responsibility
