UNIVERSITI TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN

Meeting with Students

21st February 2024, 2:00 p.m., UTAR Kampar, Block E, E213

The department welcomed the new students from January 2024 Semester to join the Bachelor of Electronic Engineering (Honours) Programme.

Dr. Lee explained the differences between educational approaches in schools versus universities. He emphasized the heightened level of self-directed effort required from university students to grasp the syllabus material. Foundational subjects covered in Year 1 are pivotal and will retain relevance throughout the students' academic journey.

The Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Electronic System program has undergone updates, with Work-Based Learning (WBL) and industrial training now slated for Year 3. Additionally, students have the opportunity to select Huawei for their WBL placement.

Collaborative work is actively encouraged among students, fostering teamwork skills essential for professional success. The department advocates student involvement in extracurricular activities and competitions, recognizing them as avenues for individual distinction, particularly in events endorsed by potential employers. However, the importance of effective time management cannot be overstated.

Dr. Lee reminded the students to refrain from cheating in tests and final examinations. Students caught will receive the grade ”F” for all subjects taken in the semester and be barred from taking any subjects in two subsequent semesters.

Mr. Saufi, a year 2 Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Electronic Systems student representative extended a warm welcome to the incoming Year 1 students. He offered his help to the new students in the same programme that require guidance.

Representatives from various clubs took the stage to introduce their organizations and outline upcoming activities to the new students.

Twenty two students participated in the meeting.
