The Department of Electronic Engineering hosted representatives from Fuji Electric (M) Sdn. Bhd. for a seminar titled "Introduction to Semiconductor Wafer Fabrication."

The first speaker, Mr. Mohd. Monier bin Mat Din is the Human Resource Department Manager for Fuji Electric (M) Sdn. Bhd. He has 18 years of experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry as an engineer and 15 years of experience as human resource manager. He gave an overview of Fuji Electric (M) Sdn. Bhd.'s core businesses which are manufacturing of IGBT modules, substrate production and media magnetic disk production. Students are also exposed to career opportunities in Fuji Electric (M) Sdn. Bhd., which provides a variety of available positions, competitive salary and allowances; and good career path.

Mr. Chey Leng Sing is the Deputy General Manager of Fuji Electric (M) Sdn. Bhd. He is in charge of wafer fabrication in Fuji Electric (M) Sdn. Bhd. Mr. Chey gave a technical talk on the processes involved in wafer fabrication. The front end processes are deposition of SiO2 layer, photolitography / patterning process, etching, ion implantation process and deposition process. Back end processes includes back pinching, polyimide process and sputtering process. The wafers will then be subject to various tests to to ensure it is functioning as per design specifications before being diced and packaged.
